Ashley is an iOS engineer, speaker, and avid writer. She makes
Beacon, an app that makes it easy to signal to friends when you're available to hang out. She’s also the co-founder of
Sound Off, a non-profit that works to increase access marginalized people in tech have to professional spaces. Ashley fell in love with the iOS platform while at Apple, where she worked on several enterprise apps.
After Apple, Ashley joined a news startup named Circa to become their lead iOS developer. At Circa, Ashley worked on their flagship eponymous app, producing several releases including Circa 2. Apple prominently featured Circa 2 in several places on the App Store, including:
Best New Apps,
Designed for iOS 7,
Essentials, and the News category’s marquee.
Most recently, Ashley was at Dropbox where she worked on problems at scale for the Dropbox iOS app and advocated for accessibility. Her work in accessibility led to Dropbox being featured on the App Store as one of the
Popular Apps Using VoiceOver, and the hire of Dropbox’s first web accessibility engineer.
While at Dropbox, Ashley began speaking internationally on a number of topics, including how the Dropbox iOS team builds quality code, and her particular favorite, the intersection of humanities and technology. She’s delivered keynote talks on such prestigious stages as Strange Loop and Webstock.
